This was discussed briefly with Sir W.

Peel, and he agreed that the only course was to send out the report of the Imperial Shipping Committee

for his consideration. He was surprised to hear

that the Commission had recommended dredging the

whole area to 36 feet depth. I still find it

difficult to understand the grounds on which that

recommendation is based. It will be noted from

paragraph 4 of (26) that the Admiralty propose to

dredge
